Blackshear's Recruitment is Heating Up

Bluffton (S.C.) defensive end Shameik Blackshear is one of the top 2015 prospects in South Carolina.

"I have offers from South Carolina and North Carolina," said Shameik Blackshear. "It's just an honor and a blessing and I hope I can continue to pick up more offers as time goes on."

As it turns out, Blackshear grew up a fan of one of those schools.

"I was always a South Carolina fan growing up and that was my first offer -- so that was pretty cool," Blackshear said.

Interest in Blackshear is not limited to those two schools.

"I've also gotten mail from Clemson, Georgia, Penn State, and UCLA," he said. "Of those schools, Clemson has been sending me mail on the most consistent basis."

He is hoping to hear from some more SEC schools.

"I would like to hear from Alabama, LSU, and Florida."

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Blackshear has visited two schools.

"I've visited Clemson and South Carolina this season," he said. "Both visits were good experiences."

Blackshear feels good about the way he played this season, but said he still needs to get better.

"I think my sophomore season went great because I didn't think I was going to do as good as I did," he said. "I think I did a pretty good job. But as a sophomore, I have a lot of room to improve."

"I'm working hard on getting stronger, more explosive, and gaining some more weight."

Bluffton finished the season 12-2. Blackshear had 97 tackles, five sacks, 17 tackles for loss, two pass deflections, three fumble recoveries, a punt block, a field goal block, and two touchdowns on offense.

Update: Blackshear was offered by Clemson on Monday afternoon.
