Cauley-Stein named SEC Freshman of Week

Kentucky center Willie Cauley-Stein was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after posting a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds against Eastern Michigan.

Kentucky freshman Willie Cauley-Stein was honored by the Southeastern Conference on Monday, earning the league's freshman of the week award.

The 7-foot center from Olathe, Kan., recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds in UK's 90-38 win over Eastern Michigan. He made five of six shots from the field and also recorded two blocked shots and two steals against the Eagles, who shot only 24 percent against the Wildcats.

The SEC honor is the first of Cauley-Stein's career. He joins teammates Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress as other Freshman of the Week honorees. Sophomore Kyle Wiltjer has also earned SEC Player of the Week accolades this season.

Kentucky returns to action Thursday at Vanderbilt in the SEC opener for both teams. Tipoff is slated for 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
