Russell Has Three Early Leaders

Carrollton, Georgia defensive tackle Dontavius Russell is beginning to get interest from schools around the South. The 6' 2"-300 junior has three schools that top his early list.

Profile - Dontavius Russell

Following his junior season, Russell played in the Rising Seniors all-star game run by former Georgia Tech back Joe Burns. "It was a great experience and Joe and company put on a great game and they counseled us on life without football."

Georgia Tech and Florida are the two schools that Russell feels are recruiting him the hardest. "Right now Georgia Tech would be the one that is recruiting me harder but both schools are close." Georgia is the other school showing interest in Russell. They have not offered.

All three schools are looking at Russell as a nose tackle or a defensive tackle. "At Carrollton, we run both the 3-4 and 4-3 so I am familiar with both schemes but I feel that I might fit in better as a nose tackle." Russell feels he could adapt to either scheme.

With most schools beginning to hold their Junior Days, Russell has received an invite from Georgia but will be unable to attend. He expects that Georgia Tech will be one that he'll attend.

Georgia Tech is a school that has Russell's interest. "They have a good program and they are a school that offers a great education."

When it comes to making his college choice, location will be an important factor for Russell. "Convenience for my family to come see me play, playing time, and my relationship with the coaches will all be factors." Russell will be looking for the same relationship with his college coaches that he has with his high school coaches. "Although I am saying this last, it is very important to me, I want to get a great education."

Russell would love to stay close to home if possible. "I'd love to stay in state and be a player that supports the state school but if it doesn't happen then I can live with it."
