UGA Picture Day Information

ATHENS------- Fans will get their first look at the 2001 Georgia Bulldogs at the annual UGA Picture Day scheduled Saturday, August 18, at 2:00 p.m. at The Classic Center in downtown Athens.

Coaches, players, and mascot "Uga VI" will be available for photos and autographs from 2-4 p.m. Georgia Bulldog concessions, the 2001 media guides, and The Georgia Bulldog Magazine will also be on sale and there will be several give-away items such as schedule cards, posters, and photos for autographing.

It will mark the first time the annual picture day has been held at The Classic Center which will house the entire event indoors.

"We felt The Classic Center would be an ideal location this year for several reasons," said head coach Mark Richt. "Being indoors will provide both the fans and the players relief from the heat, there is plenty of space in which to hold the event, and there will be ample parking available."

The event was held indoors for the first time last year in the Stegeman Coliseum on campus. However, space was limited and this year there are several construction projects under way around the Coliseum as well. The football team will be stationed in the Grand Ballroom on the lower level of The Classic Center.

Representatives from all other men's and women's sports will be stationed in the Fire Hall portion of the facility. And the Bulldog mascot, Uga VI, will be available to fans on the Theater stage.

The Georgia team will be in the middle of preparations for its season opener, Saturday, Sept. 1, against Arkansas State. Kickoff time is 1:00 p.m.
