Prospect: Montravius Adams | 5-star DT | Dooly County (Ga.)
Why this visit is key: This visit may be bigger for Georgia as a program and for the UGA coaching staff than it is for Adams. While it is important for Adams and his mother who will accompany him, Georgia cannot lose the top prospects in the state. They will not get Robert Nkemdiche and they will not get Vonn Bell, so as important as this visit is for the Adams' party, it may even be more important for the University of Georgia. They want to keep their top talent at home, this is one they can't let get away. Clemson is their biggest competitor.
Prospect: Vonn Bell | 5-star S | Ridgeland (Ga.)
Why this visit is key: Bell grew up a Tennessee fan, he has dreamed of playing for the Vols, and although, he attends high school in northwest Georgia, he actually lives in Tennessee, so technically, he is an in-state prospect for the Vols. This is not only a big visit for Bell, but it is big for the new UT staff. They want Bell, they need Bell, and this visit will make or break their chances for this elite defensive back. Scout feels Alabama leads heading into this visit, but if one school could overtake the Tide, it would be Tennessee at this stage.
Prospect: Alex Collins | 5-star RB | South Plantation (Fla.)
Why this visit is key: If anyone can take Collins away from Miami, it appears to be Arkansas. Collins seems to have legit interest in the Razorbacks with Bret Bielema as the head coach. When Bielema was at Wisconsin, he had Collins on his campus for an official visit, so the connection and relationship is already there. The Hurricanes had Collins on their commitment list at one time already and they appear to have the edge heading into this visit. Not only could this put closure to the process for Collins, but Arkansas will give it last go to see if they can pull the top back out in Florida over to Arkansas.
Prospect: Robert Nkemdiche | 5-star DE | Grayson (Ga.)
Visiting: Ole Miss
Why this visit is key: Ole Miss has been in the lead for some time, so they need to go ahead and lock the door and throw away the key here. The groundwork has been done, the relationships have been built, and both parties seem ready to unite as one, so it just has to get done. Florida has Nkemdiche on their campus last week and LSU could host him next weekend, but Ole Miss is a strong leader here. With the no. 1 prospect in the country, you just don't want to drag things out any longer than they have to be, so the quicker the Rebels can close the door, the better they will feel when they sleep at night.
Prospect: Matthew Thomas | 5-star OLB | Booker T. Washington (Ala.)
Visiting: Florida State
Why this visit is key: This is a big week for Thomas because, not only is he visiting Florida State this weekend, but he visited Miami officially earlier this week. He spent Wednesday and Thursday in Coral Gables and he will not spend some of Friday, all of Saturday, and a little bit of Sunday in Tallahassee, Fla. These are the two frontrunners for the elite outside linebacker and now with James Coley leaving FSU for UM, the Canes could actually have the upper-hand. This is a big visit for FSU and for Thomas. In the end, expect Thomas to choose FSU or Miami.
There are plenty of other big visits taking place this weekend with prospects out of the south including Alvin Kamara to Georgia, Austin Golsen to FSU, James Clark to Ohio State, Carl Lawson to North Carolina, Antonio Conner to Ole Miss, Joshua Dobbs to Mississippi State, and others.
Stay tuned to Scout all weekend and through signing day for the very latest on your school and favorite recruits.
