Thompson is wide open

Trevion Thompson is one of the top 2014 prospects in the county. The Durham (N.C.) wide receiver's recruitment has continued to gain momentum.

Trevion Thompson has become one of the most sought-after juniors in the country. The Hillside star has several scholarship offers.

"I have 15 or 16 offers," said Thompson. "The latest offer was Notre Dame. They came by before we got out of school for Christmas break to talk to me and then they came back by after Christmas break, too."

Other schools have consistently stayed in contact with Thompson.

"I've been hearing from Clemson, (North) Carolina, N.C. State, Florida, and Ohio State," he said. "North Carolina has stepped up. They've been talking to me a lot. I think Georgia or Miami could be the next school to offer, though."

Previously, the 6-foot-3, 180-pound Thompson had a top three of Clemson, Florida, and Ohio State, but that has changed.

"I really don't have top three anymore – I'm wide open right now," he said.

The four-star prospect does not have any trips scheduled, but mentioned possibly attending Clemson's junior day with teammate Donte Williams. Along with that trip, Thompson said he wanted to visit Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech in the near future.

For now, Thompson is focused on becoming a better player.

"I just want to keep studying the game, developing my game, and getting better," he said.

He will take his time with the recruiting process.

"I'll probably narrow it down to a final five at some point," Thompson said. "I'm not sure when I'm going to make my decision, but it will probably be close to Signing Day."

Thompson is the 30th-ranked junior prospect in the country.
