George "Debo" Williams (5-11,225) is one of top uncommitted athletes remaining in Florida 2013 senior class. The All-State and All-Dade County linebacker finished they season with 77 tackles, 9 sacks and 7 forced fumbles. Hialeah Coach Marc Berman talked to the Cajun Redzone about Williams commitment to UL today.
"They just did a great job recruiting "Debo", Coach Berman stated. "George is the type of kid that wants to be shown a lot of love and the coaching staff at UL-Lafayette just did a heck of a job recruiting him. That is why he committed to them."
Coach Berman has coached a number of geat athletes including Auburn All-American Corey Lemonier and San Diego Chargers first round pick Melvin Ingram, and he noted Williams may be better then both.
"I've coached a number of great athletes at Hialeah like Corey Lemonier and Melvin Ingram the Chargers first round pick last year, and "Debo" Williams may be better then both," said Coach Berman. "He is a very good receiver and running back, so he could a number of positions at the next level."
But George Williams is known for his physical play and hammering tackles, and that is why the UL staff wanted him.
"No doubt about it, George loves to punish people on the field," Coach Berman stated. "He plays the game very physical and can run from sideline-to sideline. He is the ultimate defensive player and he makes big plays all over the field."
Coach Berman quickly shut down rumors that George Williams was going to visit Hawaii this weekend.
"I'm not sure where you heard that, but that is absolutely not true," Coach Berman mentioned. "I have not heard from anyone on the Hawaii staff in several months and George is not flying out to visit Hawaii this weekend, he is committed to Louisiana-Lafayette."
