S Jefferie Gibson Profile
Gibson spoke 1-on-1 with wide receivers coach Jeff Scott, defensive backs coach Mike Reed and recruiter of record, defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks.
"Coach Reed, I know him from State, we already have a connection. We were talking and he was telling me about many safeties or defensive backs that they were bringing in. He was telling me how they were going to bring in two safeties," Gibson told CUTigers on Saturday night. "He told me, if that was what I wanted to do, I'd be one of them.
"Coach Scott, he was telling me that he would he love to have me and love to see me at wide receiver, and that he would try to take me from coach Reed. Then, coach Reed was telling me that he would only bring in two safeties and three cornerbacks.
"But they would bring me in as an athlete. Whichever one I would feel better at, that's the one I'd play."
Saturday's visit was a positive experience for the 6-foot-4, 190-pound athlete.
"It was pretty great. We got to learn more about the campus and more about their whole program and what they're trying to do up there," Gibson said.
He added, "I just found out that they recently got a new indoor facility. That was pretty nice. Then, I finally understood that the reason that they let their players greet the recruits is because they treat each other like family. It's all based on how you treat them."
The Gray's Creek High School [Hope Mills, N.C.] junior has picked up offers from Clemson and N.C. State. His next two junior day trips will be to UNC and State.
"Virginia Tech came in two weeks ago and said they were probably going to be my next [offer]," Gibson said. "I got letters from Florida State saying that there would be good news, so I'm waiting to hear back on that," he said.
During his junior season, Gibson had 70 tackles and four interceptions.
