Already boasting a half dozen offers, the Scout 300 prospect was in Los Angeles on Saturday, making an unofficial visit to UCLA for an informal meet-and-greet with other top 2014 prospects.
Pickett, who has an offer from the Bruins, enjoyed his time in Westwood.
"I had a really good time there getting to see the campus and talking with the coaches," said Pickett. "We went to the basketball game with the other recruits and coaches and it was real fun."
Pickett went to a UCLA football game in the fall, at the Rose Bowl, but only drove by and around the UCLA campus.
The time on Saturday was dedicated largely to touring the school.
"A couple of the coaches took us on a tour of the school and the classrooms and we got to check out the facilities and the locker rooms," said Pickett. "We met with the coaches too and got to talk with them for a long time."
Pickett was offered by defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin last month and spent the majority of his time with Martin, while also chatting with assistant coach Angus McClure, who recruits Northern California, defensive coordinator Lou Spanos and head coach Jim Mora.
"Coach Martin talked with us the most and he was telling us how I'd fit in with the other corners," said Pickett. "We also got to talk with Coach Mora and the other coaches. UCLA's coaches are really cool and you can see that they're building something there."
Pickett said he's hoping to get back to UCLA again this spring, either during spring practice or for the Bruins' camp in the summer.
And plenty more unofficial visits to other schools are planned.
Pickett is also planning a busy spring with camps, playing in the Passing Down 7on7 and the Bay Area NFTC, while balancing baseball on top of that.
