Trey Quinn has seen his offer total grow by a couple in recent weeks, after adding overtures from both Clemson and Mississippi State since the middle of January. The 6-1 190 pound Quinn is coming off a junior season in which he caught 111 passes for 2,094 yards and 26 touchdowns, something that Quinn believes has led to recognition by colleges around the country.
Even though he just added more offers to his growing list, the Barbe High School standout explained that his recruitment has slowed down somewhat within the last couple of weeks.
"The recruiting process is pretty relaxed right now," Quinn told TSD. "I just stay in touch with a few coaches right now to try to figure out where I want to visit during the spring and summer."
Being from Louisiana, Quinn explained that LSU is one school that has been there from the beginning. Quinn said that he routinely speaks with a couple of members of the LSU coaching staff, and their relationships are beginning to grow.
"I went to their junior day a few weeks ago," said Quinn. "I call them once a week to have some conversations about certain things. I talk to coach [Adam] Henry and coach [Steve] Ensminger a lot."
"We are really close now. The relationship has really grown over the years because we have good priorities, with football being at the top."
The junior day that Quinn spoke of was LSU's Boys from the Boot event, which was held in January. While he has been around campus multiple times throughout his life, Quinn explained that this visit to LSU was a little bit different.
"It was a pretty nice visit," said Quinn. "I actually went to the special teams meeting instead of meeting with the receivers. We had a good talk with coach [Les] Miles and Jarvis Landry showed me a good time at lunch."
"I believe it was definitely something different. It wasn't the normal school visit. It definitely drew me closer to them."
Aside from the visit to LSU, Quinn explained that he would like to take visits to a couple of other schools that are slowly creeping up his list.
"I'd like to go to Ole Miss some time soon and I'll be at Clemson for their spring game," said Quinn. "I have been in contact with them a lot lately and they are climbing my list."
With visits still left to take, Quinn does not currently have a top list of schools. However, he does have an idea of when he would like to have his final college decision out of the way.
"I'm planning on doing it before my senior year," said Quinn. "If I'm not sure by then, I'll just wait it out until I'm positive about my choice."
