It won't be the last.
The 6-fot-4, 295-pound Martinez received an offer from Notre Dame, and he told IrishEyes.com he would make an official visit to campus in the fall.
"I don't know where I will actually take visits, but I know for sure Notre Dame will be one," Martinez said. "Other than that, I'm going to sit down with my parents and coaches and start making decisions on where I want to take those other official visits to."
Martinez, who is the ninth-rated offensive guard in FOXSportsNEXT's 2014 class, also has offers from Florida State, Miami, Tennessee and hopes to make unofficial visits to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi State and Ole Miss in the spring and summer.
However, the offer from the Irish immediately puts them into the discussion.
"That offer means a lot to me," he said. "Not only is there football team outstanding, but the degree I could get from that school is top notch, and you can't really find it anywhere else with the winning football team that they have."
Martinez also likes the way Notre Dame develops offensive linemen.
"I know they put out a lot of different players to the NFL," Martinez said. "They're always known for their solid offensive linemen they put out, and the offensive linemen on the team, every one of them is solid fundamentally. I know they put out a lot of good players, with degrees."
However, there is plenty more Martinez needs to learn about Notre Dame, and much of it will come through contact with Alford.
"Today was the first time I was actually really in contact with them," Martinez said. "My coach from my school gave me a call saying they had called him and were asking about me and they watched my film and absolutely fell in love with the way I played and told me to give the coach a call.
"I called and talked to him, and we're going to stay in contact every week."
