The SEC's Player of the Week lit up a pair of Tiger squads this week and now knows he will get to play before a second sellout home crowd in a couple of weeks.
The league gave Arkansas' redshirt junior Marshawn Powell the weekly honor after the Razorbacks' wins at Auburn and over visiting Missouri.
Powell had 20 points and nine rebounds in the win over on the road and then a team-high 24 points in Arkansas' 73-71 win at home over Missouri.
"My team needs me, so I've got to step up," Powell said. ".... My team tells me all the time, one on one on the block it's hard to stop me. So that's what I went to, and I just tried to grind it out and get points for my team."
Those were his first back-to-back 20-point games since his freshman season.
"When you got a guy like Powell – well, Powell is pretty good," Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson said. "Powell is really, really good. As a matter of fact if you noticed we were going through him in the second half. Not only going through him, but he was delivering. He makes the game a lot easier for a whole lot of guys."
Powell – fifth in the league in scoring now at 15.2 points per game - is now 24th on the Arkansas' all-time scoring list with 1,201 career points.
He is also one of just five players in Razorback history to score over 1,000 points, grab at least 450 boards and have at least 100 assists.
He joins Todd Day, Corliss Williamson, Scott Hastings and Ron Huery in that elite club.
The 19,004 fans on hand for the Razorbacks' soldout game on Saturday were a season-high – infused by several thousand Tiger fans.
That will likely be topped by Arkansas' game with Kentucky at 3 p.m. March 2, which was announced Monday as the second sellout of the season.
That game will be nationally televised by CBS.
It is the fourth sellout – including last season's Michigan and Florida games – since Anderson left Missouri to come back to Arkansas.
The Razorbacks are 31-4 at home the last two seasons under Anderson.
