Tally CB Favors Wildcats

A cornerback from Tallahassee Godby now favors the Kentucky Wildcats.

De'Eric Culver (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) is one of the top defensive back prospect from Florida's panhandle. Culver, 6-foot-0 and 185-pounds, is a cornerback that recorded 52 tackles, two interceptions, eight pass breakups, forced six fumbles and had four fumble recoveries last season as a junior.

"I can come up in run support," Culver said. "I am physical at the line of scrimmage and knock receivers off their route. I like to find out tendencies. For me, I just need to working on playing the ball better when it's in the air."

According to Culver he has offers from Ole Miss (first), Mississippi State, Louisville, Kentucky, South Carolina and Minnesota.

"Minnesota just offered," Culver said. "I also have interest from FSU, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, Indiana, Vanderbilt, UCF, and South Florida."

Culver said he grew up a fan of Florida State but now has a new favorite football team.

"Growing up my team was FSU," Culver said. "Over the years it's changed to Georgia. I just like their physical defense. I also like how they have handled adversity."

While Georgia is recruiting him it's another SEC school that's his recruiting leader.

"Right now my leader is Kentucky but I want to keep it open and see who else offers," Culver said. "I have a very good relationship with coach [Mark] Stoops and coach [Derrick] Ansley. He has been recruiting for me for a long time. I went up there for a junior day. I like the campus, facilities, weight room, academics, and the players."

Culver has been to see FSU, Kentucky and Ole Miss. He hopes to get out this spring and check out a few more schools.

"Georgia, Louisville, and Mississippi State are schools I want to visit during the spring at some point. They have all invited me to their spring games. It just depends on the weekend."
