Top three for McClendon

Jalan McClendon is one of the top prospects in North Carolina. The Charlotte (N.C.) West Mecklenburg quarterback gave FOX Sports Next the latest.

West Mecklenburg signal-caller Jalan McClendon claims scholarship offers from East Carolina, North Carolina, South Carolina State, UNC-Charlotte and Wake Forest. However, several other schools are also pursuing him.

"Florida State just popped into the picture," McClendon said. "I'm supposed to go down there for a spring practice or their spring game. Clemson, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee are also recruiting me."

McClendon said along with Florida State, he will possibly visit Clemson and LSU in the near future.

Although it is early, McClendon has a top three.

"Florida State, then (North) Carolina and Clemson – in that order," said the 6-foot-5, 195-pound McClendon. "I'm not sure when I'm going to narrow my list down, though. It's going to come down to whoever is the most interested in me."

The West Mecklenburg star is not in any hurry to make his college decision.

"As far as my decision, I'm still thinking about waiting until Signing Day," McClendon said.

"I'm looking for a school where I can get a good education, has a good football program and has a good atmosphere."
