Gaillard to give Georgia a look

Can Georgia impress Lamont Gaillard enough to unseat Florida at the top of his list? The Scout 300 defensive tackle will be in Athens this weekend, so the Dawgs will have their shot...

Rumors have begun to circulate that Florida may have taken a hit with Lamont Gaillard (Fayetteville, N.C.) due to the resignation of Gators defensive line coach Bryant Young. However, Gaillard set the record straight on his recruitment status and his favorite school.

"Florida is still at the top for me. Nothing has changed. Coach Lawing is my main recruiting coach, and I have a great relationship with him. I saw where Coach Young was leaving, but I am not even sure I know him. Coach Lawing is who I talk with at Florida, and I feel really comfortable with him," Gaillard told Dawg Post.

While the Gators are still Gaillard's favorite school, he will be making the trek from North Carolina down to Athens this weekend to learn more about the University of Georgia.

"I have been talking to Coach Lilly a good bit so I want to visit there. I want to see if it feels like home and whether it has a good sports management program."

Gaillard says he would like to major in sports management and the type of sports management a school offers will play a big factor in his decision.

On whether Gaillard would make a commitment soon, the 6-foot-3, 315 pound four-star defensive lineman is not in a hurry.

"I like Florida, but I am not in any rush. Once I get comfortable with the thought of committing to a school then I will do it."

Right now Florida is in the driver's seat to land this top DL. Georgia has their chance this weekend, but it will not be easy for the Dawgs to move ahead of the Gators."

"Georgia offered me early, so I want to give them a shot. I am really liking Florida though. I have been there a couple of times and I feel very comfortable. Georgia is a school I like too though, so I want to see how I feel there."
