The Junior Day happened a couple of months ago and Burton got some big news that day.
"Tennessee offered me a scholarship to play wide receiver when I was up at their Junior Day. It was either late February or early March when that happened.
"I was watching film with Coach Thigpen and he told me that he liked me, that he liked my size, and that they were looking for some bigger wide receivers in this class like me, and that is why he offered me. It was big news for me."
Since then, UT has been on Burton's mind. He returned to Knoxville this past Saturday.
"I went back up there for their spring game and it was great. I have been staying in touch with Coach Thigpen, so it was nice to get up there again. There was a lot of orange there and I like it a lot."
The feeling this 6-foot-2, 203 pound junior out of Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge had when he was there is what stood out the most.
"There is a great vibe there. They have great fans, the atmosphere there is nice, and it feels like family there."
When asked about his interest in the Vols, he said, "I have big-time interest in Tennessee. I like how they look at me as a person, not just as a recruit or as a player. I like them a lot."
His interest in UT may be high, but he is not ready to place any school on top of his list. He is hearing from numerous schools and he plans to stay busy on the road this summer looking to earn more offers.
