Fall Practice Notes - August 9

ATHENS, Ga. ------- The University of Georgia football team continued two-a-day workouts on Thursday, practicing for two-and-a-half hours in the morning and an additional two hours in the evening at the Woodruff practice fields.

Georgia coach Mark Richt and his staff continued installing elements on both sides of the ball as the team prepares to workout in pads for the first time on Friday. Richt said he has been very pleased thus far with the attention to detail the team has shown and has been very impressed with the will the players have shown to want improve with each and every practice.

"I'm pleased with where we are at this point," said Richt. "I see a lot of guys pushing hard to get better rather than just trying to survive. You can tell they want to be great by how they practice. "I thought the defense did a nice job today and last night of picking up the tempo and making plays to the ball." Two-a-day practices continue on Friday. The Bulldogs open the 2001 season Sept. 1 against Arkansas State at Sanford Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
