Boone Talks 'Cuse, Early Favorites

Syracuse has several safeties on their radar in 2014. Shawn Boone, who was offered recently, is one of the most talented the Orange are recruiting. He discusses adding Syracuse to his list, some early favorites, and more inside.

Dwyer High (FL) safety Shawn Boone continues to rack up offers after Syracuse pulled the trigger recently. The Orange are looking at bringing in at least a couple safeties in their 2014 class, and have identified Boone as a talented target.

"They visited me at school," Boone recalled. "They came down earlier last week. I think it was last week. He didn't tell me about the offer at practice. He told me on the phone on Wednesday. He told me all the coaches loved my film, the secondary coach especially.

"They love the way I play the game, my aggressiveness, and I can cover. I can do a lot of different things."

With the interest just showing up on Boone's radar recently, he is still learning about Syracuse. However, he has a friend on the team and knows someone who had been recruited by the Orange in the past. Those two could help shed some light on Syracuse.

"I'm still getting to know the program," Boone admitted. "I'm still getting to know them a little bit. I only know Julian Whigham on the team right now. I haven't talked to him yet. I plan on talking to him about Syracuse. I know a little about them because they were recruiting our former d-end, Malik Brown.

"He told me a lot about how visits went and things like that. He said it's a great school and a real nice environment."

While a decision is not imminent and Boone has not official trimmed his list, he does have some favorites early in the process.

"I'm going to do my best to try to get up there and visit and check out the place," the three star safety said. "They will be one of the schools I will be definitely considering. I have a few favorites right now. Florida State, N.C. State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Rutgers, and of course Syracuse. That about sums it up a little bit.

"I'm not going to make my final decision until after the season. But I'll have a good idea by the end of the summer."
