Cleveland Feels Welcome in Athens

Ben Cleveland stopped by Dawg Night to see a few coaches whom he says he has formed close bonds with.

ATHENS -- Offensive tackle Ben Cleveland made an appearance at Dawg Night, a place where he said coaches make you feel welcome.

The 6-foot-5, 320 pound lineman has made visits to Alabama, Clemson and Georgia, but said Georgia's staff stands out among the rest.

"I know for a fact the coaches at UGA and I have a personal relationship," Cleveland said. "And with me, it's not just all about football."

Among the coaches Cleveland has built a close relationship with, the rising sophomore highlighted Will Friend, Mike Bobo and Mark Richt. While Cleveland has spoken with all three, he said Coach Friend would have to be the closest to him.

"I think a lot of him because he takes time out of his schedule when I'm on campus to see me," Cleveland said. "I really like him."

While the trips to Georgia are among his favorites, Cleveland said the top spot in his mind currently belongs to Alabama. Cleveland spoke highly of everything Alabama.

"I like the way their program is run," Cleveland said. "It's very fast-paced and the coaches really know what they are coaching their athletes to do. They understand the game of football and are coaching it the way it's meant to be coached."

While Cleveland is on board with what Nick Saban and his staff are doing, he has yet to receive an offer from the Tide. However, it's still early in the process for Cleveland.

"It still hasn't really sunk in yet with me being so young," Cleveland said. "But it's really been a blessing for me and my family both, so it's been great."

Cleveland has already attended camps at Alabama and Georgia, but said his final decision won't be made for a while.

"I'd say the process will go on all the way up until it's time for me to sign," Cleveland said. "That would be my guess."
