J.K. Britt: What I Learned Watching

NEWNAN - Ethan Burch reviews Newnan RB J.K. Britt's performance against Marietta.

J.K. Britt is an athletic player with good size for whichever position he chooses to play in college, whether it's running back or cornerback. He played both during Newnan's season-opener against Marietta. The position where Britt really stood out to me was running back. He's 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds with good speed and field vision. He can also catch the ball well out of the backfield and occasionally the slot. Britt helped Newnan move the ball down the field, but not nearly enough times to get the win. Newnan was defeated 52-21 in the game.

When I watch Britt I see a lot of potential in his abilities. He looked like a very talented cornerback as well. His coverage skills were good and he has some big-hitting abilities.

One area where I noticed Britt may need work is wrapping up on tackles. There were a few tackles he missed because he didn't wrap up completely. Sometimes that led to receivers getting by him for a big gain or touchdown.

However, Britt is just a junior this season and it was the team's first game of the season. Britt has a lot of room to grow both mentally and physically, and I think he's going to become a great player in the next two years.

To recap, Britt is a physical player with good size. He has all the physical tools to be a good running back, and with a little bit of work on his tackling he could be a great defensive back. Britt has time to develop, though.
