New Missouri Offer Talks About His Plans Now

The Missouri Tigers continue to work hard to try and find and bring in some quality football players to add to the 2014 recruiting class. Their latest offer spoke to about how this SEC opportunity feels, and what it means for his plans going forward.

On Sunday, Missouri extended a scholarship offer to a late-rising 2014 secondary prospect, in Kiante Walton 6’0” 200 Columbus (GA) Carver. spoke with Walton, and he confirmed the Missouri offer, and he updated us on his recruitment.

“Missouri’s a great offer to have,” said Walton. “It’s my first SEC offer.”

Walton is what would be considered a later-rising prospect. Earlier, he was committed to Georgia Southern, and he is “right now” committed to Appalachian State. He holds recent offers from Kansas State and BYU, in addition to Missouri, and he has visits scheduled to Kansas State for January 24th, and to BYU for January 31st, the date that Missouri wants him to visit. Now, it sounds like he’ll visit Missouri on the 31st instead of BYU.

“I plan on taking my official visit to Missouri on the 31st,” said Walton. “That’s most likely when I’m going to visit.”

Walton confirmed that he has grown to 6’0” and 200 pounds. He reported a personal best of 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash at a Mississippi State camp last summer. He also reported a 38” vertical and a 335-pound bench max. He had 5 interceptions during his senior year.

Walton said that he’s been speaking with Missouri assistant coach Alex Grinch for “about a week”. He seems pretty excited about the upturn in his recruitment, and about the Missouri offer. He expects to see Coach Grinch soon, learn more about the opportunity presented to him, and confirm his Missouri visit date.
