A Family Environment

LOGANVILLE, Ga. - MyKelle McDaniel is a rising junior who's only taken one visit to Georgia.

MyKelle McDaniel is an in-state defensive end who doesn't speak with the Dawgs too often, but the 2016 prospect out of Grayson High saw enough on his one visit to Athens to catch his attention.

"I've went on one visit to Georgia," McDaniel said. "I liked it a lot."

The 6-foot-4, 261-pound defensive end watched practice while taking in the University's campus, and while he hasn't yet received an offer from Georgia he said it was a place he felt he belonged.

"I talked to Coach (Mark) Richt - he tries to make it a family environment," McDaniel said. "That's what I like the best."

While McDaniel lives just down the road from Athens in Loganville, Ga., his offers haven't come from inside his home state. The sophomore has offers from North Carolina, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Michigan State and North Carolina State - which was his first offer.

"The first school that was here watching me was NC State," McDaniel said.

Coaches from the Wolfpack must have liked what they saw.

"The first time they came out here they offered me," McDaniel said. "I was happy. My mom was happy, also."

It's good to get that first offer, obviously. It takes a lot of pressure off, and lets you know coaches are seeing you.

However, McDaniel said it's not tough to get that exposure at Grayson High. Whether you're a Nkemdiche or Justin Young, McDaniel's current teammate and Georgia commit, the Rams' coaching staff will make certain its players are noticed - even without going to all those individual camps.

"I feel like at Grayson we have enough coaches to bring the college coaches to us," McDaniel said. "If we're invited and the coaches tell us to come out there, we'll come. We don't feel like we're better than everybody else."

That exposure has landed McDaniel with the offers he has already received, and certainly more to come in the next two years. At this moment McDaniel is just trying to figure out where his next visit will take him.

The two at the top of his list are Notre Dame and Clemson. While Notre Dame will have to be a trip planned well in advance, McDaniel plans to visit Clemson this summer.

NC State will be at the top of McDaniel's list, also. After all, it was his first offer.

McDaniel's trip to Raleigh, N.C. will play a big role in his upcoming plans.

"First of all, they're my first offer," McDaniel said. "Second of all, I haven't been on a visit. Once I go on a visit and figure out the environment I'll know more about it."
