Summer Position Preview: QB

ATHENS - Dawg Post breaks down each position going into fall camp.

To state the obvious, Georgia will have to replace a legendary quarterback in Aaron Murray. The answer – Hutson Mason.

Projected Starter: Senior Hutson Mason

Backups: Along with Mason, Georgia has a current two-headed backup in Brice Ramsey and Faton Bauta.

What We Learned This Spring: While Ramsey had the better Spring in terms of scrimmages, Bauta was the backup who shined in Georgia’s G-Day. Ramsey has the rocket arm for stretching the field with the use of receivers like Chris Conley, Michael Bennett, Reggie Davis and Jonathon Rumph. For the moment, however, Georgia will look to Mason when kickoff comes in August.

Through five games played in the 2013 season, Mason tossed for 968 yards and five touchdowns. Mason likes to play fast, which is something his offensive line will have to get used to when fall camp starts.

Mason certainly has the demeanor of a leader, but only the ‘moment of truth’ will reveal all for Georgia’s next play-caller.
