Jackson talks new offers
A lot was made of Josh Jackson’s lack of offers coming into the week. The No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2016 has seen that change while performing extremely well at the USA Basketball tryouts. About the USA Basketball experience, Jackson said, “It is a great experience to be here. All the guys are real competitive and tough. It is a challenge, and I love a challenge.” Over the weekend Jackson picked up his first three official scholarship offers. Auburn, Kansas, and Michigan State all offered Jackson a scholarship. When asked about the offers, Jackson said, “It was kind of exciting to hear. I know that I probably have a few more to come, so I will be waiting on them.” Jackson admitted that he didn’t know too much about the situation at Auburn, but he does have a lot of familiarity with the other two who stepped forward with an offer. Growing up in Detroit, Jackson followed Michigan State, and says he has an appreciation for the school. “I love Coach (Tom) Izzo and Michigan State,” said Jackson. “I grew up a Michigan State fan actually. My mom and I during football games between Michigan and Michigan State, she would always being going for Michigan and I would be going for State. They will always be one of my favorite schools.” While he didn’t grow up rooting for Kansas, he has seen the Lawrence campus, and was very impressed with what he saw. “I actually made an unofficial visit down there when I was in Kansas during April,” explained Jackson. “The campus is really nice, and Coach (Bill) Self is really cool. The environment is great with sold out games and everything.” For now Jackson is in absolutely no hurry to make any kind of decision regarding college, but he does have some idea of what he is looking for in a school. “I am going to see what other players will be at the school because I want to play with other good players,” said Jackson. “I can’t say for sure though because I haven’t put much thought into it.”
