Richt: Defense Plays Well in Scrimmage

ATHENS - Mark Richt seemed pretty pleased with the results of Georgia’s scrimmage on Saturday night.

The defense got the bulk of Richt’s praise.

“There was a lot of execution, but not many points to show for it,” Richt said.

Sterling Bailey led the defense with eight tackles. Jordan Jenkins had five tackles with

Richt said it was the number one offense against the number one defense.

“We wanted to put the best on the best,” Richt said.

And the defense got the better of that battle, the head coach said.

“We completed the ball. We may have completed the passes, but the defense got them on the ground, and that was encouraging,” Richt said. “The defense, i can’t think of any big ones they gave up - there may have been one. They gave up, well none over 20 yards. They didn’t get beat on any bombs. A lot of good things happened back there.”
