Tuesday: East State Rankings
It is now time to release the 2015 pre-season state rankings for the states that fall in the southeast region.
The Alabama Top 40 - Daron Payne heads the state of Alabama and he is literally going to be tough to move from the top. He is a big-bodied defensive tackle that will anchor a defensive line on the next level. He has offers from all over the country with Alabama leading the way.
The Arkansas Top 15 - Jamario Bell has not been budged from the top of the Arkansas State rankings since Scout started the 2015 cycle. He is a versatile big man who could play rush end, stand up linebacker, or tight end on the next level. He is a big athlete who is staying home to play for the Razorbacks.
The Florida Top 100 - Martez Ivey is an elite offensive tackle with so much upside. He is still growing into his frame, he is adding strength, and he already has the feet, the length, and the flexibility coaches covet at that position.
The Georgia Top 75 - Trenton Thompson is the top prospect in Georgia and he is announcing his college decision Tuesday evening at 7pm ET. The five-star defensive tackle fires off the ball and uses his quickness and power to be disruptive in the trenches.
The Louisiana Top 50 - Tyron Johnson is a wide receiver who could play college football right now. He is physically ready to compete and he has reliable hands, good speed, and the ability to make plays down the field and in traffic.
The Mississippi Top 40 - Jamal Peters is a total package safety. He can run, he has great range, he can play the run, and he can track the ball. The Mississippi State commit is the best in Mississippi and one of the best in the country at his position.
The North Carolina Top 50 - Defensive tackle is a strong position at the top in the South and Shy Tuttle is in the conversation when talking the best. He had shoulder surgery, so he missed the spring and summer workouts, but he is cleared now, so he should create a buzz early in the fall. He has quick feet for a big man and he knows how to get into the backfield.
The South Carolina Top 25 - Shameik Blackshear wears No. 7 because he wants to be Jadeveon Clowney-like on the next level. Blackshear is an athletic rush end who excels when rushing the quarterback and like Clowney, he is headed for the University of South Carolina.
The Tennessee Top 30 - It is a tight battle in Tennessee for the top spot, but Kyle Phillips is that guy heading into the season. The big defensive end is athletic enough to be moved around and he could play inside or outside on the next level. He has a lot of upside.
