ATHENS - Georgia checked in at No. 12 in the pre-season Associated Press poll, which was released Sunday.

It is the 12th season in a row the Bulldogs have been ranked going into the season. Last year Georgia was ranked No. 5. Georgia has not been ranked No. 12 in the AP poll since the week of October 28, 2012 when they defeated No. 2 Florida 17-9.

Georgia hasn’t been ranked No. 12 in the preseason AP poll since the 1988 season. The Bulldogs finished 9-3 in Vince Dooley’s final season as head coach.

Georgia returns to the practice field on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are off Monday for the first day of fall semester classes.
