ATHENS - At least on paper, preseason All-American inside linebacker Ramik Wilson has lost his starting job.
’s depth chart for the Clemson
game was released Monday, sophomore Tim Kimbrough
was listed ahead of Wilson at the Mike inside linebacker position. That doesn’t mean Wilson, an All-SEC selection last season, won’t be out there ahead of Kimbrough on Saturday.
There had been plenty of signs from coaches that Wilson might be relegated to second team. Kimbrough, from Indianapolis, had five tackles last season.
Another surprise of sorts is that the new-look secondary has junior Devin Bowman listed as a starter at cornerback alongside Damian Swann.
Bowman is ahead of Shattle Fenteng at the boundary corner. Coach Mark Richt indicated last week that Bowman was set back by a hamstring injury.
The starting secondary includes two newcomers: freshman star nickel back Dominick Sanders and redshirt freshman free safety Aaron Davis. Senior Corey Moore is also a starter.
Reggie Davis is listed as the third starting wide receiver along with Chris Conley and Michael Bennett.
A backup to quarterback Hutson Mason is not named between Brice Ramsey and Faton Bauta.
The punting job is listed as still between Colin Barber and Adam Erickson. Barber had been the leader entering the second scrimmage.
Freshman return man Isaiah McKenzie is listed as the top kick returner along with freshman Sony Michel. McKenzie is listed behind Reggie Davis on punt returns.
