Strong Spring Helped Carry Pyke

ATHENS - There were no surprises on the starting offensive line in the newly released depth chart.

Right guard Greg Pyke seemed about as safe as center David Andrews to be in the starting lineup.

“I’ve been working there since the middle of spring,” said Pyke, a redshirt sophomore who played in two games last season. “You still had to work the whole summer. …Luckily, I won the position pretty much so now it’s refining those skills to get ready for Clemson.”

The rest of the first team line has John Theus at left tackle, Brandon Kublanow at left guard and Kolton Houston at right tackle.

Two freshmen are listed on the second-team: left guard Isaiah Wynn and right guard Dyshon Sims.

  This and that

Wide receiver Chris Conley practiced in a non-contact jersey Monday for the shoulder injury that had limited him some this preseason. He missed at least part of practice late last week.

Georgia is favored by 7 ½, according to

Georgia’s captains Saturday: quarterback Hutson Mason, center David Andrews, defensive lineman Sterling Bailey and special teamer Kosta Vavlas.

Calling the game Saturday for ESPN: Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe.
