Richt: Mitchell, JSW Out For Clemson

ATHENS - As widely expected, Richt confirmed Tuesday that wide receivers Malcolm Mitchell and Justin Scott-Wesley won’t play Saturday.

Mitchell hasn’t practiced after arthroscopic knee surgery July 31.  Scott-Wesley is serving a one-game suspension for a marijuana arrest.

Richt said that Georgia will need a plan for Clemson freshman quarterback Deshaun Watson from Gainesville. Tigers coach Dabo Swinney was asked if there’s an ideal time for his backup to get in the game. “The perfect time is when we put him in,” Swinney said.

Swinney said he spent some time in Athens in the past decade when his sister in law used to live in town.

Wide receiver Chris Conley (shoulder) practiced again in a non-contact jersey Tuesday.

Georgia assistant coaches are usually available to speak before games, but defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt declined requests on Tuesday. He also did not join other assistants who spoke to reporters last Friday.

Gov. Nathan Deal and staff were in the football facility Tuesday afternoon before taking part in the groundbreaking for the UGA Science Learning Center on campus.

The kickoff time is set for for 5:36 p.m.
