Dawgs Will Honor Magill

ATHENS - Georgia plans to wear special helmet decals to honor a Bulldog legend on Saturday.

When Georgia takes the field on Saturday its players will honor Bulldog legend Dan Magill by wearing a special decal on their helmets.

Magill, who died last Saturday at the age of 93, spent 60 years associated with the University of Georgia and its athletic department.

The decal Georgia will wear spells ‘MAGILL’ with the Georgia power G used in the lettering.

Magill was an Athens native who started his long run with Georgia athletics as a batboy for the baseball team in the 1930s. Before his retirement in 1995 Magill served as Georgia’s sports information director, head men’s tennis coach and founder of the Georgia Bulldog Club.
