I have talked to not only all (UGA commits) in this group, but others that were there, and others that are connected to this -- ALL say this trio will end up playing in Athens for the Dawgs. And, a couple even say McGraw will be back on the UGA list come signing day. McGraw is not worth interviewing right now because he is going to say the 'right' things in front of a camera... He is still in contact with UGA, Pruitt specifically, so he is still one to keep an eye on. It will be HARD to flip him back IMO, but I know for certain that the interest in UGA is still there.
Do not be surprised if Thompson goes back to Bama for an official visit, but he is ALL Georgia. The one to watch here is Godwin. I am still being told by more than one person that is extremely close to this that he will be a Dawg. Godwin is in Tuscaloosa quite often though. He is still telling people behind the scenes he is a Bulldog and I know for a fact that he is actively recruiting other UGA targets. Still though -- he continues to pop up at Alabama, so there has to be a little concern if you are a Georgia coach or fan.
2. Which UGA target will commit next? Will is be Micah Abernathy, Emanuel McGirt, or Darius Slayton? I think all three commit within the next month or so... I have been saying that for a while, I know, but these kids have been VERY close to pulling the trigger on multiple occasions. As of today, I will go out on a limb and say this:
That is my prediciton as of Monday Sept 22 at 8:11 am. We will see if things change... Abernathy is UGA-Tennessee battle... He is not going to Oregon as of right now and Ohio State is trailing. McGirt is a UGA-NC State battle with LSU lurking... UNC is trying to get back in the picture too. Slayton is UGA's to take... South Carolina has come on strong and he may be in Columbia again this coming weekend -- If he is in Athens instead, that is a VERY good sign... Auburn is there too.
3. Roquan Smith visited FSU this past weekend, but there is nothing to worry about there... He may visit Miami this weekend, but the Canes are not a threat to UGA either... This one keeps looking better for the Dawgs imo... Florida is still the biggest threat to UGA and part of that reason was his good friend Adonis Thomas being part of this class... Thomas may end up in Bama's class, so that will hurt UF's chances... Georgia is in the lead here and I give UGA a GREAT shot at signing him.
4. I have said for a couple of months now that LSU was up there for Donte Jackson and I know even some have come on here in those threads of mine saying that he still calls UGA his leader and others are saying UGA leads... Like I have said here before, trust me on this one... Jackson is going to be a VERY tough pull for UGA... He was back at LSU this weekend and even though LSU did not play well, he still received a lot of attention from the staff, he hung out with LSU commits and in-state targets, and he then finally came out and said that Georgia and LSU are tied at the top right now... Trust me again -- they are not tied... LSU has the lead here and has to be considred the favorite as I have been saying for a while now.
It is an in-state school, it is THE offer he wanted, many guys he knows well are on the team or will be on the team, and he loves Corey Raymond, the DB coach for LSU. Is UGA out here, no, not at all, but it is a fight... Pruitt will stay on this one and Jackson knows he is Pruitt's guy, so Georgia is definitely a contender here, but this one is not going to be easy the longer this race goes on.
5. Do not sleep on Arden Key... BMac was at his game Friday, UGA is staying in regular contact, and I got word Friday from someone at Hapeville Charter that Key's academics have come a long way and that he WILL qualify. He is a force and he has SO much upside... He is A LOT like Leonard Floyd, maybe better... I saw Key play Friday and he is so explosive off the edge with long arms, and a frame that will quickly get to 240 pounds, then possibly up to 250-260 down the road... He is a typical South Carolina DE they have had over the years -- long and rangy who excels in rushing the passer and getting their hands in the passing lanes. He plans to be in Athens this weekend for the Tennessee game. Key is ont we have not discussed much on here recently, but do not sleep on this one. Expect to hear him talked about a little more in the coming weeks.
