Bobo said Mitchell is in every meeting but Georgia is being cautious as the preseason 2nd-team All-SEC selection returns from arthroscopic knee surgery on the eve of preseason practices after being lost in the opener last season with a torn ACL.
“The kid’s been through so much, we don’t want to rush him,” Bobo said. “It’s not fair to him.”
Mitchell felt good after running in practice on the side Monday, including changing direction, Richt said, but was just watching Tuesday.
“I don't know if he'll have the stamina to play hard every down for an entire game,” Richt said. "So I think the conditioning is going to be one of the issues for him.”
Richt said Mitchell returning for the fifth game was about what was expected.
“We we're hopeful for sooner, but you've just got to go at the pace that he can go.,” Richt said. “There is a big difference between just zigging and zagging out there by yourself and running a route or running a route being guarded by somebody, or running the route with live tacklers all around you too. So it's going to take a little bit.”
