Mason offers some wisdom to Gurley

ATHENS - Todd Gurley might be the Heisman Trophy favorite, but it’s “just old Todd Gurley,” to Mason.

“I’m trying to help him figure out the best gift to get his girlfriend for her birthday, let alone he’s the frontrunner for the Heisman,” Mason said.

The news of Gurley having a girlfriend wasn’t well known.

“I may have gotten him in trouble, I don’t know,” Mason said.

And what kind of gift did Mason suggest? That would be candles.

“It’s the pumpkin time of the year, festive,” Mason said. “Candles, you can’t go wrong.”

  This and that

Tailback Keith Marshall is expected to miss his third straight game with a sprained ankle and sprained knee. He has run on the side in practice and could play next week at Arkansas. “I'm not saying that's going to happen, but I'm hoping he can be back next week,” Richt said.

All of Georgia’s tailbacks now are wearing non-contact jerseys in practice. “Even in a thud situation, they don't need to take any shots of any kind,” Richt said. “Saturday is enough.”
