More progress for Mitchell, Scott-Wesley

ATHENS - WR Malcolm Mitchell and Justin Scott-Wesley have “practiced better,” this week, Mike Bobo said.

“(Monday) night was a little light but today they ran a little bit harder,” Bobo said. “I think Malcolm looked really well. Justin’s still working through a few things, but both of them look better than they did last week.”

Mitchell played limited snaps against Vanderbilt and had one catch for 11 yards in his first game since tearing an ACL in the opener last season.

Scott-Wesley did not play Saturday and hasn’t since tearing an ACL against Tennessee last October. He served a suspension but also sustained an ankle injury in the preseason.

“He’s still progressing,” receivers coach Tony Ball said when asked about Scott-Wesley playing against Vanderbilt. “We’re just going to keep working him, keep getting him ready.”

Wide receiver Jonathan Rumph suffered a setback last week with his hamstring injury, Richt said, but he was still practicing Tuesday in a non-contact jersey. “I don’t think he’ll play this week,” Richt said.

Ball said that’s a decision that will be made by the medical staff.

Wide receiver Chris Conley did not attend practice Tuesday because he was at the funeral of his grandmother, Mary Conley.
