Douglas’ air show

ATHENS - The leaping ability of Gurley drew some oohs and ahhs this season as he hurdled defenders on two occasions.

Sophomore Brendan Douglas showed he can perform his own air show when he left his feet on a 15-yard touchdown run and flipped into the end zone for a somersault score Saturday.

“That was like slow motion, too,” Douglas said. “It was like I was in the air for 10 seconds. I was just running and instinct, I thought he was going to low so I was going to jump over him and I ended up doing that.”

  This and that

Tailback Nick Chubb was named Monday as SEC co-freshman of the week a week after winning the award by himself. Chubb rushed for 143 yards on 38 carries and had four catches for 31 yards in the win at Missouri. He shared the award this week with LSU’s Leonard Fournette.

Wide receiver Chris Conley (knee) practiced on Monday, Richt said. Safety Quincy Mauger (undisclosed) practiced in a non-contact jersey. Richt said he “wouldn’t predict” that tailback Keith Marshall (ankle/knee) will play Saturday at Arkansas.

The on-air crew for Saturday’s game: Dave Neal, Andre Ware, Laura Rutledge.

Saturday’s UGA captains: quarterback Hutson Mason, defensive lineman Mike Thornton, outside linebacker Leonard Floyd and wide receiver Michael Bennett.
