New UGA Target thought he was dreaming

Georgia is looking for linebackers in the 2015 class and one was surprised by the Dawgs with a scholarship offer recently...

North Texas was his only scholarship offer until Georgia made the call recently.

Chuks Amaechi, a linebacker out of Yuma (Ari.) Western College received the news from the Dawgs and he could not be happier.

"At first, I thought I was dreaming," said Amaechi when asked about the Georgia offer. "Getting an offer from any SEC team is a huge honor, but for it to be from Georgia, it felt unreal.

"I talked to Coach [Mike] Ekeler (Linebackers) and he said he was fired up [to be offer me]. He has heard good things about me because he is good friends with my defensive coordinator."

The 6-foot-3, 227 pound sophomore does not know too much about the Dawgs yet, but he is doing his research, and he hopes to see Athens, Ga. in the future.

"Any time I watch defensive highlights on YouTube, Georgia always comes up first," said Amaechi. "I know they are graduating senior linebackers and that they need more linebackers.

"I could see myself playing in their system. I have high interest in Georgia and I am hoping to take an [official] visit to learn more about them."

Plenty of other schools are showing interest in Amaechi. Arizona, Arizona State, and Middle Tennessee are currently showing the most. He could project as an outside or inside linebacker on the next level. UGA offered him to play on the inside.

He is on track to graduate in the spring of 2015 and Amaechi will have three years to play two.
