Marshall may not play vs. Gators

ATHENS - J.J. Green was indeed back practicing Wednesday with the defensive backs after a week at tailback. He will stay there if Gurley is reinstated.

That’s even with tailback Keith Marshall now appearing unlikely to play against Florida.

“I’m not really optimistic right now from what I’ve seen,” Richt said. “I’m not saying that he couldn’t play, but right now I wouldn’t say that Keith is just lighting it up right now. He’s still kind of feeling his way in my opinion.”

Green was working with the safeties early in practice Wednesday but Richt said he could go back to offense if need be before the Florida game.

“It would depend if we heard some news on Todd and when we heard it and what the news was,” Richt said. “There’s always a chance that J.J. could come back next week. We hope he doesn’t have to.”

Freshman defensive back Dominick Sanders said Green “felt like when he went back to offense he felt good about it, but he’s always said if he had to go back to defense, he’s going to feel more happy.”
