Can UGA close the deal?

Patrick Allen will be in Athens, Ga. in a couple of weeks for his official visit and it will be the Dawgs chance to close the deal...

Go back to June 14, Patrick Allen drove down from Maryland to compete at the Mark Richt Camp.

A month and a half later on August 4, Allen committed to Georgia.

The four-star offensive tackle has since taken official visits to Arkansas, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. He remains committed to the Dawgs, but he still has his eye on a few schools.

"I am still committed [to Georgia], but they have some competition," said Allen. "Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Arkansas are Georgia's competition.

"I would say my commitment to Georgia is about 60-percent right now. I just want to get down there for my official visit and make sure of everything."

"If all goes well on my visit, it could push my commitment all the way to 100-percent."

The 6-foot-6, 282 pound senior out of Reisterstown Franklin had a a good time on a few other campuses, but there is a certain feel he has at UGA.

"Georgia just feels like home and the SEC is my favorite conference," said Allen. "I really like Coach [Will] Friend (Offensive line) -- he is a real honest man and his coaching style is what I am used to.

"Coach Friend gets onto you, but at the same time he is understanding and more open to helping a player develop. We talk almost every week."

Allen is scheduled to visit Georgia officially when the Dawgs host Auburn the weekend of November 15.
