Gurley "Can't Wait to Play"

ATHENS - This is the last game week of practices for star tailback Todd Gurley before his four-game suspension ends.

Richt was asked again if Gurley is indeed planning to play when eligible Nov. 15 against Auburn. Some have suggested Gurley might leave and prepare for the NFL draft since he’s a potential top-10 prospect, but Gurley asked Georgia to pursue his reinstatement from the NCAA.

"I don't know why we keep bringing that up,” Richt said. “He's there and he's practicing. He can't wait to play."

Gurley practiced in a regular jersey on Tuesday while the rest of the top tailbacks were in non-contact.

“He’s practicing really hard with the reps that he’s getting,” Richt said.

This and that

Both Richt and Bobo used the word “hopeful” when talking about tailback Sony Michel being able to play Saturday at Kentucky. The freshman has missed the last four games with a broken bone in his shoulder. “He’s looked good,” Bobo said. “It’s not a coaches’ decision, it will be the trainer’s decision on whether he plays. We’re practicing to play right now and hopefully we’ll get a thumbs up or thumbs down (Wednesday), Thursday at the latest.

Georgia fell nine spots to No. 20 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings  released on Tuesday night. Six other two-loss teams are ahead of Georgia.

Richt didn’t want to address whether tailback Keith Marshall (ankle) may be headed for a medical redshirt. "I'm not even going to talk about that right now,” he said. “We're just trying to win games."
