The Throwback: A Tall Order

Today's Dawg Post Throwback Story of the Day features a piece by Josh Kendall from 2004.

Mark Richt had a message for his offensive line prior to Georgia's Outback Bowl matchup with No. 16 Wisconsin.


TAMPA - Reggie Brown doesn¹t see why any of Georgia's young wide receivers would be surprised by their lack of production this year.

³They knew we had this year,² said Reggie Brown, who teamed with fellow senior wide receiver Fred Gibson to catch almost every meaningful pass of the season. ³Wait your turn.²

The turn for No. 8 Georgia¹s youngsters will come as soon as Saturday¹s Outback Bowl against No. 16 Wisconsin (9-2) is over. This year was about Brown and Gibson.

They combined to catch 95 passes, 75 more than all of Georgia¹s other wide receivers combined. It was a fitting final season for two of the best pass catchers in school history, but there¹s a downside.
