Dawgs Try to Maximize Practices

ATHENS - Georgia held seven practices on campus last year before its bowl game.

This time around, due largely to exam schedules, it will have eight total on campus and in Charlotte in the lead up to the Dec. 30 Belk Bowl.

The fourth and final one in Athens was a full pads 90-minute workout Saturday.

Richt said the practice “was a little different from some other last days. We felt like we had to maximize everything we did this week. We scrimmaged without tackling to the ground. …We thudded that drill and I think we got a lot out of it.”

There was less work with the younger players because of the shorter practice window and players who graduated still practiced on Friday instead of having the day off.

Richt said practice was uptempo and players showed a competitive spirit and he likes the team’s attitude preparing to play Louisville.

“If it’s gauged off of what happened this past week, I was really pleased,” he said.

The team will report to Charlotte on Wednesday and practice on Christmas Day.
