Chad Simmons’s Quick Take: Clay is a confident cornerback who plays with swag. He Understands the game and has great awareness. He can mix it up physically.
The Scoop: Watched Chad Clay play against Dacula in the playoffs, and he was very active. He often plays up close to the line of scrimmage. Clay will take risks in one-on-one coverage, so that’s something he’s going to try. He’s not very heavy, but he’s taller than six feet, so that’s going to attract a lot of attention from folks - including Georgia. He’s been to Athens a lot - three times during the 2014 season, which is more than any other place he’s taken trips to. It seems like LSU and Auburn are going to be the Bulldogs’ primary competition. Georgia offered in August, and Clay put Georgia at No. 1 after that happened.
“Georgia is No. 1 because they have shown me the most love and they seem so interested,” Clay said at the time. “I also really like their defensive staff. Georgia always has a great staff and great players. They produce so much talent and send so many to the NFL.”
