What I Learned Watching: Nigel Warrior

ATLANTA - Matt DeBary takes a look at Westlake DB Nigel Warrior.

Nigel Warrior is a very good instinctive safety who was all over the field for Team Dedication during the Rising Seniors game. He was listed 6’1, 178 pounds, so he wasn’t the biggest guy out there, but still made an impact.

Warrior had his hands full covering South Carolina commit and Archer WR Kyle Davis, but he did show good cover skills, and came up to make some nice tackles in run support. Davis beat him deep once, but the ball was underthrown, and Warrior showed good closing speed to catch up to the bigger Davis, and leapt high into the air and knocked the pass away, saving what would have been a touchdown.

Warrior also intercepted a high pass that was poorly thrown to Davis later in the game, and intercepted another pass later in the game. He also did a nice job covering Alabama commit and Savannah Christian Prep ATH Demetris Robertson, who did not have the impact I was expecting from what some have called a five-star athlete. I did not see Warrior getting beat badly by any one receiver, and Team Commitment had many receivers that will have an impact on the next level. Warrior also showed nice athleticism as he was asked to return kicks for his team.
