UGA leads, Pruitt's the key

Georgia picked up big news from a talented defensive back Sunday, but could another be close to picking the Dawgs too? This 4-star has UGA on top...

We are just a few days from March and two months after March is May, and that is when Scout 300 cornerback Chad Clay plans to announce his decision.

If nothing changes, Georgia has a good chance at landing this 6-foot, 168 pound junior out of Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge.

"I was at Georgia Saturday for a visit and it was great," said Clay. "I had a good time and Georgia is still No. 1 for me. They have a pretty nice lead right now."

One of the main reasons why the Dawgs lead for Clay, who's father Willie Clay starred at Georgia Tech years ago is UGA's defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who also coaches the defensive backs.

"Coach Pruitt is mostly the reason why Georgia leads. I just like the type of person he is, the type of coach he is, and he is a guy I would like to play for.

"I also like the love the staff shows me. I can tell I am really wanted there and I have that feeling of trust with them."

Clay is the No. 19-ranked corner and the No. 187-ranked prospect in the country on Scout.
