No. 14 seed Georgia falls to No. 3 seed Xavier 73-61 in a first-round West Regional game at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. It was the first time the Bulldogs had played in the NCAAs since the 2002 NCAA Tournament. Georgia, the unlikely winners of the 2008 SEC Tournament, held a nine-point halftime lead, but was helped by shooting 27 for 33 from the free throw line in the win. The Musketeers went on a 22-6 run in the second half to advance to the second round of the NCAAs. Georgia finished its season at 17-17.
