Georgia Releases Six IPF Drawings

ATHENS - Georgia AD Greg McGarity released six indoor practice facility renderings on Monday.

In a letter released on Georgia's official website, McGarity said there were a "number of options for placement."

Here's the letter:

As the planning stage continues for the proposed indoor athletic facility at the University of Georgia, campus officials continue to review a number of options for placement of the proposed facility. During the exploratory process, multiple sites throughout the current athletic precinct off Lumpkin Street have been reviewed, as well as sites adjacent to the Jack Turner softball and soccer facilities, off South Milledge Avenue.

At the February 2015 UGA Athletic Association Board of Directors meeting, the indoor athletic facility was discussed, along with preferred locations for the facility; however, no renderings were presented to the Board.

Due to the sensitivity and concern for adherence to proper protocol with regard to planning and construction on the UGA campus, every effort has been made to protect the integrity of the informational and approval process on campus, with our Athletic Board, and with the Board of Regents. It is our intent to "get it right" in every aspect of this project, and this includes full review and approval by the appropriate parties.

As this process continues to develop, we will keep our donors and supporters updated on our progress. We have been very pleased with the response from our donors regarding the desire to assist in the funding for this project, and we look forward to sharing this information once further planning has occurred.

The following renderings were part of the effort to locate the facility at various sites within the Lumpkin Street precinct. Please understand the focus on these renderings centers only on the MASS of the facility in specific areas. Architectural design will be developed as the process continues.
