2015 Spring Day One News & Notes

ATHENS - News and notes from the first day of Georgia's spring football practices.

Pro Day on tap

Georgia holds its Pro Day on Wednesday.

The event featuring 19 NFL draft hopefuls will be shown live on the SEC Network starting at 9 a.m.

Running back Todd Gurley, coming off a torn ACL, is expected to attend but not work out.

Among others taking part: center David Andrews, receiver Chris Conley, defensive lineman Ray Drew, linebackers Amarlo Herrera and Ramik Wilson, quarterback Hutson Mason and cornerback Damian Swann.

This and that

Former Creekside football coach Olten Downs will make $65,000 in his position as quality coordinator for offense.

Tailback A.J. Turman, sidelined last year with a foot injury, is practicing without limitation. “He moved well in the offseason drills and seemed to have no setbacks,” Richt said. “Even today, I liked what I saw of him. There were some times when he cut it back across the grain and looked healthy.”

Senior Hunter Long was the first-team center as practices began. Isaiah Wynn is competing to replace David Andrews.

The team practices again on Thursday.
