Dawg Post Power Rankings v 2015.1

ATHENS - Dean Legge breaks down the top players on scholarship at Georgia; Fletcher Page adds his insights as well.

Georgia has gone halfway through its 2015 spring practices, and it is time to take account of where we are at currently. The Dawg Post Power Rankings are pretty unreal at the top - Nick Chubb is a Heisman Trophy Candidate - but its pretty balanced outside of the top ten, which is one reason Georgia will likely be ranked in the top ten coming into the 2015 season. The Bulldogs are led by a power run game. It can't be much of a surprise that four of the top eight players are either offensive linemen or running backs.

But the Dawgs are loaded at outside linebacker - three of them are ranked in the top six.

1/3 of the signees of the class of 2013 have transferred from the program, and that has left a lot of inexperience at the bottom of Georgia's scholarship table. But players like Trenton Thompson, Jonathan Ledbetter, Terry Godwin and Jacob Park, who have never played a down of college football, could run up this list very fast if they make an impact in the spring (or in some cases this fall). If a player has never played (in some cases practiced) a snap in college they are automatically at the bottom of the list. As soon they start producing they have a shot to move up.

1 Nick Chubb - Heisman Trophy Candidate

Fletcher Page: Yeah, duh.
Dean Legge: Great writing; that's all it takes to be the editor of the Athens Banner-Herald?

2 Greg Pyke - Think he’s too high? Dude is a stud

Fletcher Page: I think he's too high. Not based on talent, Pyke is an NFL guy no doubt, but on position. I'd prefer to see a guy that can get to the quarterback — Floyd — or one that protects from the left tackle position — Theus — here.
Dean Legge: Pyke is a star. No, he's not a tackle, but he's Georgia's best overall lineman in a group of pretty good linemen. I get your vote for Floyd.

3 Leonard Floyd - Possible 1st Round Pick

Fletcher Page: Like his versatility. His freak athletic ability allows DC Pruitt to move him around, even to the Star. That gets the others freaks, Jenkins and Carter, on the field with Floyd at the same time.
Dean Legge: Floyd is a star; Holy terror off the edge.

4 John Theus - Four-year starter; now at LT

Fletcher Page: You said it, four-year starter in the SEC. How often does that happen on the offensive line?
Dean Legge: Not bad production from a former five-star player; I'll take it.

5 Jordan Jenkins - Three-year starter

Fletcher Page: Another mainstay in the lineup, Jenkins seems to be more the solid and consistent to Floyd's awesome and explosive.
Dean Legge: The power OLB of the bunch; Great player; smart.

6 Lorenzo Carter - Could be full-blown star

Fletcher Page: Let me fix that for you — WILL be a full-blown star.
Dean Legge: SMH; You think you are better than me?

7 Malcolm Mitchell - Critical part of offense; 2013 ACL

Fletcher Page: A vertical and make-plays-in-space threat, he's got to stay healthy. The wide receiver corps can't afford to lose him.
Dean Legge: Has to stay healthy; Has to stay healthy; Has to stay healthy.

8 Sony Michel - Needs to get/stay healthy

Fletcher Page: Versatile skill-set the perfect complement to Chubb. Another one that has to be there on Saturday though.
Dean Legge: I am concerned about health here. A 15-runs-a-game guy; explosive; Dawgs (Chubb) need him.

9 Dominick Sanders - Just makes plays

Fletcher Page: Plays are great.
Dean Legge: Tucker.

10 Marshall Morgan - Scores a lot of points

Fletcher Page: Points are great.
Dean Legge: I like points. 7 is greater than 3 is greater than 0.

11 Brice Ramsey - Has the tools; pressure on to perform

Fletcher Page: Don't see how the starting quarterback at Georgia is the No. 11 player on the list. He's unproven, but the status alone is worth Top Ten.
Dean Legge: Your golden child ain't the starter yet, son.

12 Kolton Houston - Very, very valuable member of OL

Fletcher Page: He's been around a long time and had to fight to be here. Experience and voice valuable in the locker room and on the field.
Dean Legge: Fighter; imagine the mental toughness on this guy.

13 Jeb Blazevich - Young weapon

Fletcher Page: I think Blazevich is going to get a lot of targets in Schottenheimer's offense.
Dean Legge: Has Milan Richard played at Clemson yet?

14 Justin Scott-Wesley - Finally coming back to form; 2013 ACL

Fletcher Page: Where are the defensive linemen?
Dean Legge: Look further down the list, clown.

15 Brandon Kublanow - Mean; power OL; road grader

Fletcher Page: Where are the inside linebackers?
Dean Legge: You probably can't see them because they are getting blocked by Pyke.

16 Isaiah Wynn - Future center; Expectations are high
17 Sterling Bailey - Starting DL; has developed over time
18 Isaiah McKenzie - Small, but explosive playmaker
19 Josh Dawson - Regular contributor on DL
20 Qunicy Mauger - Smart; measurables not ideal
21 Quayvon Hicks - Richt’s favorite toy besides McKenzie
22 Malkom Parrish - Small; but will have to continue to develop to play

24 Devin Bowman - 2014 starter; Solid if not spectacular

26 Tim Kimbrough - Huge hitter; lots of competition for time at ILB
27 Reggie Carter - Steady backup ILB; lots of competition for time at ILB
