Chris Barnes is in.

Since taking over the offensive line in Athens, Ga., Rob Sale has targeted the 6-foot-4, 282 pound offensive guard out of Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County. That hard work paid off Saturday after the Dawgs' spring game.

"I had a few talks with my parents this week about committing this weekend and I decided to go ahead with it today after their spring game," said Barnes. "I had talked about it, prayed about it, and since my last visit to Georgia, I had been feeling it was right for me.

"After the spring game ended, I talked to Coach [Mark] Richt and Coach [Rob] Sale. I committed to Coach Richt first, then Coach Sale. When I was talking to Coach Richt, we talked for a little while first, then I answered a question he asked me a while back and I told him I wanted to be a Dawg.

"I told Coach Richt I was ready and then I committed. He got up and started hugging me and my parents -- he was very happy about it. Coach Sale was too."

Since Barnes was back on campus last month, he has been a UGA lean behind the scenes. He has always liked Georgia, but he has had commitment running through his mind for weeks now.

The three-star feels Athens is the place he wants to spend the next four to five years.

"I have been up there a lot and I fell in love with the coaches and the atmosphere. When I am there, I feel like I could be playing along side those players right now. It is that hometown feel for me when I am at Georgia and that with those other things made me want to be a Dawg today."

It is not just Barnes and Coach Richt and his staff that are happy -- the entire Barnes' family feels good about what went down in Athens Saturday.

"Me and my parents have been talking about this decision heavily, so we all feel good about it," said Barnes. "They are happy, I am happy, and everyone is happy.

"I am 100-percent Georgia right now, but I have five official visits, so I still might take them. I am not sure yet, really. Coach Richt asked me about that and he knows I am 100-percent a Bulldog."

Barnes is UGA's 10th commitment for 2016.
